Bali Activites and Adventures

Bali/Activ Vacations

n Bali there are a number of adventures that one can do. Here is a listing of some of them:

· Jungle treks

· Rice patty treks

· Elephant safari rides

· White water rafting

· River kayaking

· Mountain cycling (or combinations of both)

Spas in Bali

There are a number of very nice hotels and spa combinations in Bali. Done in traditional Balinese architecture which provides an ambiance that is quite exceptional. The properties that come to mind are the Four Seasons Hotel and particularly the Nusa Dua Beach Hotel in Nusa Dua.

There are other properties such as the Chedi that also has a very nice spa complex. There are other smaller locations that have spas. Most of the first and Deluxe locations have really nice small settings for spa services.

Up in the Kuta/Legian area:
One of the prettiest hotels I saw in Bali was the Oberoi, a deluxe hotel situated on the outskirts of Legian and away from the maddening crowd.

Another very vast rambling hotel of the deluxe category was the Imperial.

On the more moderate to first-class hotel, the Balisani Hotel is actually a very, very nice hotel situated on the beach in Legian and is of good value for those who do not desire a deluxe hotel.

Closer in to Legian is the Legian Beach Hotel which is another moderate, first-class property offering a good value as it is right on the beach, and easy access to the Kuta/Legian area. This property is made up of bungalows scattered over a large area with easy access to the beach.

The Ubud area:
In the Ubud area, I again I must mention the Taran Haram Cottages in Mas.These cottages with their nice large rooms, a swimming pool overlooking a rice patty field and the nicest staff and hospitable people as you can hope to meet anywhere, is a nice break from the hotels that are packed in and around the Ubud area. Offering the feature of wood carving, this is definitely a hotel to consider. Although they are about ten minutes from Abud, they have a free shuttle service and will pick you up whenever you need to. This is a nice relief from being in Ubud all the time, and gets you to see some of the outer areas of this part of the island. Ask for our rates.

The Pita Maha Resort and Spa in Ubud, a deluxe property, is definitely one of the nicest properties in the Ubud area.

The Chedi which is about ten or fifteen minutes from Ubud, is another upscale property which lends itself to those folks who want to be away from the Ubud area, in deluxe surroundings, and would like to participate in active vacations, as there are a lot of activities that one can participate from here such as rice patty walking, river rafting, etc.

Kupu Kupu Barong is always regarded as one of the top hotels in the Ubud area, but my personal opinion is that the Pitamaha is of much better value. So is the Chedi.

Another discovery I made in the Ubud area is the Komaneka which is a newer property in Ubud itself, verging on upper first class.

The Kamandalu Resort and Spa just outside of Ubud is a very beautiful property, with well-designed walkways and nice, airy rooms. However, if you stay at this property, be willing to do a lot of walking, as it is built on the side of a cliff and one has to walk up and down all the time to get from the swimming pool areas to the main hotel.

For those looking for more moderate accommodations in the Ubud area, I would recommend the Bali Spirit, the Puri Padi, the Pertiwi, etc. All these locations have swimming pools, nice landscaping, and are clean adequate locations

As far as something different, there is a property called Ulun Ubud Cottages which is about ten minutes outside of Ubud. This is what you would call an antique-type of hotel where most of the rooms have been done up in old-style Balinese architecture. It is a very quiet hotel built on the side of a cliff.

East Bali :
In Eastern Bali you have the Serai, of the same family as the Chedi, a nicely laid property, however, this location does not have any decent beach feature to it.

There are other properties in the Candi Dasi area such as the Amankila which was voted one of the top hotels in the world. There are other smaller hotels located in this area. If you go further east from Candi Dasi, you will go on to Amed, where we have a number of hotels that we can offer you, one of them a first-class hotel, the others moderate hotels in this sleepy, little village. This is a nice bay for snorkeling and diving and a good place to kick back for a day or two, doing nothing constructively.
